BEE - Biblical Education by Extension
At the conference held in Guatemala in 1978 it was decided to introduce biblical education in every church, so that that the church itself will be able to train ministers for its needs. Thus, the biblical education based on the curriculum of the seminary was implanted in local churches where the instruction was conducted. This program was called Biblical Education be Extension (BEE). After the introduction of this program the local churches made much progress: firstly, the ministers got knowledge staying in the town they lived; secondly, the local churches became more prolific in bringing up missionaries, fulfilling the great commission of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20).
Nowadays the program of BEE is widespread in almost every corner of the world. Every student of the Bible Institute should do a preparatory course of Series 2:7. It includes the following items:
- The Role of the Bible in the Life of a Christian;
- A Christian filled with the Holy Spirit;
- Relationship with God;
- Effective Testimony;
- Effective Ministry;
- Relationship with Brothers and Sisters;
- Priorities and Goals of Christian Life;
- Strengthening of Christian Faith;
- How Can I be a Good Witness in the World;
- Relationship with God as the Most Important Aspect of Christian Life;
- How Can I Put the Priorities of my Life in Good Order, according to Mat. 6:33;
- Learning how to Live a Victorious Life.
The first course of the BEE program is that of "Galatians and Romans". Its goal is adjusting the everyday life to the faith. Its objective is to teach a Christian to walk by the Spirit. The next course is "Evangelism and Discipleship". The experienced ministers who won a lot of souls for Christ, such as Dowson Trotman, James Engel (the colleagues of Billy Graham), John Scott, Walter Henricson, Jim Peterson and others, give practical pieces of advice to either pastor or any church member concerning a fruitful Christian life that consists in winning souls for Christ and converting them into the disciples of New Testament who in their turn will be able bear fruit for God. The verses of Mathew 28:18-20 and II Timothy 2:2 serve as a basis for the course. Many ministers and missionaries admit that the course "Evangelism and Discipleship" has miraculously changed their life. These are the first two courses of the program.
Considering the present juncture of the development of the BEE in our church there is no point in mentioning all 20 courses (Old and New Testament Survey, Church Dynamics, Christian Ethics, Hermeneutics, Homiletics, Apologetics, Survey of Doctrine, Church History, Christian Marriage, Christian Family, etc.). The training suits everybody as every student is supplied with special manuals. Everyone has opportunity to enter the Biblical Institute for there is no age limit and it is not necessary to take entrance exams. The students are meant to study the courses on their own availing themselves of the Bible and the manuals.
